A team, a family.

Jamie Carter was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. As a member of a large family, he isn’t afraid of hard work. After high school, he was given the opportunity to try his hand at roofing, so he packed his belongings and relocated to Destin, Florida, to give it a shot.

Since 1989, Jamie Carter has played an integral part in the roofing industry. While specializing in tile and metal roofing throughout the southeast, he discovered a passion for sheet metal fabrication. He appreciates the challenge of transforming a flat piece of metal into something unique. A one-of-a-kind item that will remain a part of someone’s home for many years to come.

Jamie has built a team of people over the years to assist him in realizing his vision. A team that has developed into an extended family. With lots of laughs, tons of hard work, and literal blood, sweat and tears, going into every project, there is no better place to go for your sheet metal needs.

Desma Carter, a Birmingham, Alabama native, spent her childhood exploring the beautiful Gulf Coast. In her early 20s, eager to carve out her own path, she ventured to Atlanta, Georgia, to experience the excitement of big city life. It was there, at her local True Value Hardware store, that she took her first steps into the building supply industry.

After a few years, nostalgia for the Gulf Coast drew her back, leading her to Panama City, Florida. True to her trailblazing spirit, she became the first female salesperson at a local lumber yard, making her mark in a field long dominated by men—all while juggling college and pursuing a degree in building science.

After gaining valuable experience with various building suppliers and wholesalers, Desma landed a job with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. This role allowed her to travel to over 40 Indian reservations across the country, where she conducted building assessments and gained a wealth of knowledge. Eventually, she joined Bradco, a roofing and building supply company that would later become known as ABC Supply. There, she became the account manager for Jamie Carter, and their professional relationship soon blossomed into romance.

In 2009, Jamie invited Desma to bring her no-nonsense, trailblazing approach to his business. Together, they’ve been laying a foundation of hard work, passion, and the power of partnership in the building industry.
